The final day of matches in the hockey competition promises explosive matches as teams jostle for places in the semi final of the competition held at the Wisma Belia and Sukpa Stadiums.
Currently only defending champions Wilayah Persekutuan have booked their place in the last four of the mens competition, thanks to their 3-0 win over Perak, while Penang blew their chances of also boking a spot when Malacca scored at the death to pull off a 2-2 draw.
The defeat leaves the silver state needing a win over Terengganu in the final match. Terengganu almost blew their chances as they struggled to get past Negri Sembilan 2-1 in a bruising encounter.
Faisal Saari gave Terengganu the lead in the 20th minute. And they soon doubled their advantage through Mohd Sufi Ismat Md. Rohulamin.
Negri reduced the deficit through Kavin Kartik in the 47th minute. But any chance of a fightback was diminished when Ganesh Selvam was yellow carded in the 58th minute, reducing Negri to 10 players.
Meanwhile in the womens competition, Wilayah Persekutuan went on a rampage as they slammed 11 goals past a hapless Kelantan side.
