Wilayah Persekutuan held their nerves to edge Selangor in a penalty shoot out in the semis of the women's hockey competition at the Wisma Belia Hockey Stadium in Kuantan.
The two teams failed to score at the end of regulation and extra time and the match had to be decided via a shoot out.Fatin Shafika Mohd Shukri scored for Selangor and Wilayah's Sinar Hayati did the same.
While Areena Abdullah made it count for Selangor, Surizan Awang Noh sent her attempt wide, giving an advantage to Selangor.
Raja Nursharina Raja Shahbuddin and Nur Syafiqah Mohd Zain both scored for Selangor and Wilayah respectively, and Selangor still held the edge.
But Fatiha Farahanis Mahmuddin missed her attempt while Norazlin Sumantri made hers count, thus levelling the score to 3-3.
Nurul Safiqah Mat Isa missed Selangor's fifth attempt and that handed the advantage to Wilayah. Though Fathih Hasni Che Hussain failed to score, umpire Nor Azmi Safar awarded Wilayah a penalty stroke for an infringement by the keeper. Fathih picked herself up to score and send her team into the final.
Meanwhile on the adjacent pitch Terengganu defeat defending champions Johor 4-1.
Aishah Zulkifli gave Terengganu the lead in the 6th minute but Johor were on level terms in the 23rd minute via Hanis Nadia Onn.
But Terengganu were the far superior side and went on to score another three goals through Nor Aini Mohd Tajuddin ( 35th minute), Aishah (48th minute) and Nor Hasida Hassan ( 69th minute).
