HASHIM QUITS

The Malaysian Hockey Confederation has parted ways with one of its most knowledgable and hardworking staff, Hashim Mohd Yusof.

Hashim tendered his resignation on May 31, during the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup and it was accepted by MHC.

MHC Hon Secretary Mohd Johari Abdul Aziz confirmed with this blog that Hashim had indeed submitted his resignation and that it had been accepted.

" Yes he has given a months notice and we have accepted his resignation," said Johari when posted with that question in Ipoh two days ago.

" We wish him well in his future undertakings."

Many reasons have surfaced with regards to the resignation and it is learnt that the main issue was due to a senior MHC official abusing Hashim during an event in a leading hotel in Kuala Lumpur two weeks ago.

And with two MHC officials having a proxy war, Hashim became the target person when anything went wrong in MHC ever since the departure of former Secretary General Maninderjit Singh.

Hashim has been with MHC ( formerly MHF) since 1997 and was the Hon. Secretary from 2006 till 2010. He served under two Presidents Tan Sri Anwar and Tengku Abdullah.

It has been well known that Hashim handled all matters with regards to competitions in MHC and was also at the forefront in the organization of the FIH Congress scheduled for October this year.

The battle for control within MHC had already claimed one victim when Maninderjit quit and Hashim's departure, if left unchecked, could lead to a huge vacuum with MHC.

And it is also learnt that Prof Shamala, the Senior Vice President has been implicated in this exit of a hard working staff as the other Senior VP and Secretary have said that she will be able to source for capable replacements from UPM, a claim she has since denied.

So the charade and battle lines in MHC have claimed another victim.
