The Sri Lanka squad that will participate in the First Round of the World League to be held in Kuantan will be creating a history of sorts.
For it will be the first time a women's team from Sri Lanka will participate in an International Hockey Federation tournament.
The World League event will be held at Kuantan from September 14-16 and besides Sri Lanka the other teams participating are hosts Malaysia, Kazakhstan and Singapore.
Sri Lanka will open their accounts against Kazakhstan on Friday before playing Singapore and Malaysia on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
The Sri Lanka Squad:
P. Vishwanathan (Chef- De-Mission), M. Ratnaharan (Manager), Gaya Perera (Assistant Manager), Rohan Dissanayake (Coach), A.B. Godigamuwa (Assistant Coach), Shamini De Fonseka (Lady Chaperone) and G. Hettiarachchi (Official).
The team will comprise: Dinesha Perera, Chathurika Wijesuriya, Madushani Jayanetti, Jeevanthika Keethiratne, Chamini Gunawardena, Madura Dharmaratne, Geethika Damayanthi, Aruni Jayasinghe, Buddika Gunaratne, Anandi Rajapakse, Jayathi Anupama, Sharmaine Jones, Sandya Dayananda, Sashika Samarakoon, Maneesha Dissanayake, Prarthana Upeksha, Harshini Kumara and Buddini Dharmaratne.
