MHC TAKEN TO TASK

In what can only be considered as poetic justice, the Malaysian Hockey Confederation have been taken to task by one of their own. Read The Star for further details.

Now it will be interesting to see what MHC will do considering there is some truth to the allegations as the curculars and decisions are vague and create confusion.

If anything action ought to be taken on tgr MHC administration which clearly lacks direction, insight, wisdom and the inability to function effectively.

Since MHC could not even get its act right on the constitutional requirements, it has no business to lift an iota of a finger on the allegations lest be accused of acting in mala fide ( bad intentions ).

MHC REWARDS INCOMPETANCE

The MHC stands accused of rewarding incompetent hockey officials.

For how can they justify the selection of ghr Perak Hockey Association secretary as the Team Manager of the National Under 16 Hockey Team for the Four Nation Invitational Tournament in Manhiem last May.

It was decided at thr MHC Council Meeting on March 23 that affiliates that have to merge will be barred from participating in domestic inter state competitions and lose their affiliation.

But rather then carry out the threat, MHC went ahead an appointed the said individual as manager of the team who for the record finished last.

This personality only joined the team two days before they left for Germany and the appointment can be considered as a junket for the support of certain individuals seeking re-election for MHC hot seats in next years MHC BGM.

Perak HA used to be helmed bg strong and creditable personalities as the state produced many a national player.

But what is more ironic is the fact that MHC actually rewards incompetence and sending this official when Perak is one if the states that has failed to meet FIH requirements shows that his politics is really to be amazed.

Perak has two vital officials in the MHC Exco, the Deputy President Raja Noora Ashikin and Vice President Dato Abd Rahim Md Ariff.

And rightfully both should vacate their positions as a matter of principle for failing to uplift the MHC Constitution.

Let the record speak that the Secretary was the person who humiliated my late mother by calling me past 2am on Friday 5th July and was obviously drunk as he laughed at my mother's demise when she was still fighting for her life.

God may forgive him but I never will. And I will hunt you down.

TAK TAHU

The other day the Malaysian Hockey Confederation pleaded unaware when the groupings of the Junior World Cup were released by The Star.

And after this blog highlighted the fact that Umpires and Technical Officials have yet to receive their dues and presto I am told that the money has been banked in.

Now we move to another subject, on the question of non qualified affilites playibg host not only to domestic events but also international events.

Perak and Selangor have not merged and are given hosting rights of the Men and Women Asia Cups.

Checks with the Asian Hockey Federation revealed that the Asian body was not told of this issue and are writing to MHC as they were told everything done was in accordance with the constitution.

This blog will now seek clarification from the FIH if MHC has breached any laws since India was punished to the maximum.

Thats the price one pays for ridiculing my late Mum with your drunken stupor. Told you I will hunt you down and Perak best do something before they destroy Malaysian Hockey.

And how is it that NS are given the U21 when they are not merged, the same applies to Terengganu who are given ghr U14 despite a non merger.

Conclusion is simple - remove hosting rights of all four states, bar them from playing any domestic competition till they comply with the constitution.

Ada berani kah MHC?

QUESTION MARKS ON EDEL

After The Star had published a story on the penalty corner coach Edel from Argentina, I have received a couple of emails questioning the wisdom of employing him as well as his credentials.

As of now I am running a background check and have no intention seeking any info from the national team set up as they are deemed untouchables and gods gift to Malaysian Hockey.

Suffice to say the emails received have interesting information and I do wonder if NSC was led uo a blind alley.

UNPAID DUES

The Malaysian Hockey League concluded on May 20 and all Technical Officials and Umpires were to submit their claims before May 29.

And with Ramadhan coming to an end in about 11 days time, it is indeed a shame that these officials have to yet to be paid their dues.

What is more alarming is the fact that the sponsors, TNB have paid some RM1.5 million of the sponsorship dues.

This is a sad state of affairs and really the MHC Finance Committee should look at the priorities and not allow money paid for a particular purpose to be utilised to pay certain outstanding bills that some others have vested interests.

For example it will be interesting to know if the ticketibg agent for the Under 16 team to Manhiem has been paid his dues and what was the credit period extended to MHC?

Next we also need to ask if the transporters for the school children brought for the MHL finals have been paid and when?

If both have been paid then why delay the dues of these officials who have sacrificed their weekends for well over two months.  Are they insignificant towards the promotion and development of the sport?

Trust me that my posting will probably see some form of action taking place and these officials getting their dues soon.

And the excuse will be many submitted their claims late. That is no excuse as yiu pay those who meet deadlines and are free to withhold others.

The MHC Competition Committee is surely aware of this but what have they done about it?

A TRIBUTE TO MUM

As some from the hockey fraternity keep rubbing salt to wounds, I shall keep paying tribute to Mum who left me on July 7. For only after that I came to know who my friends really were. There are some who painstakingly call me every other day offering me words of encouragement. And yet there are some who have not even called despite me helping them when at their lowest. And yet there are others who went on claiming things I had no time to think about as I was in GHKL three times a day and many a time camping there till late night. Life is not about money and power, but there some who feel money and power is everything.

Thus while these poor lost souls continue to pour scorn in my hour of grief, I shall include them in my daily prayers for my Mums soul, hoping that God makes them realize their folly. And to those who I had considered "friends" I wish you the very best. I shall continue to grieve in silence, hoping that one day you will realize what is glass and what is a gem.

Mum, where ever you are, I do hope that you are happy, looking over the family as you have done all these years. I miss you loads Mum, and every trip I make to Tampin in the past years was worth it as I got to spend time with you.

I pray no one, neither my friend or foe has to go through the anguish of having to lose a loved one. The pain is unbearable but I have to persevere as I have my Dad to fend for. Although there are unscrupulous personalities who took advantage on my situation by not paying me my dues, while others are akin to vultures, pouncing on jobs I was committed in doing, I believe that God does everything for a reason.

EASY WAY OUT

Certain factions that had issues with national coach Paul Revington have now shifted their attack on this blogger and a main stream media journalist.

A particular coach called me when the issue was at its peak and sought advice but has now turned his guns on me.

And the NSC DG has now claimed that I played politics just because he cannot accept the truth that was written.

I am still in mourning period and to Revington I have this to repeat - you will be guilty by association.

To thr coach all I can say is talk as much as yiu want for I only fear God.

God knows the truth and he will decide what is right and wrong for me.

PENNY WISE POUND FOOLISH

Malaysia will have to dish out a whopping RM8.4 million as hosting fee should they be awarded the 2018 World Cup.

And that is excluding the cost of running the World Cup which is an extended field of 16 teams, and Malaysia will have to pay for board and lodging of these teams in addition to the hordes of FIH officials that will make their way to Kuantan, the suggested location for Malaysia as hosts.

On top of that most of the commercial rights will belong to FIH, especially the TV rights which really is the cash cow in any tournament.

Here we are having problems running our domestic competitions but think Otis okay to spend RM8.4 million on just getting an event.

If MHC is financially secure, then why is it that Umpires/Technical Officials for he Malaysian Hockey League, that ended on May 20, yet to receive thir claims for the MHL. The sponsors TNB have already made payment to MHC but the money was channeled towards paying the inflated costs of tickets for the Under 16 team to Germany instead.

So hockey lovers think if its necessary to spend so much to bid for an event and gain back door entry into the World Cup. Don't tell me that we cannot do it on merit with an extended field of 16 teams in 2018?

And talking of bidding, has the approval from the Sports Commissioners office been sought in accordance with the 1997 Sports Development Act?

COLD TURKEY TREATMENT

Efforts were made to seek a statement for MHC Competitions Committee Chairman M.Gobinathan on the misinformation of the Razak Cup but this blog was denied any clarification as two SMS sent were totally ignored.

What we can report is that the matter was discussed and changes to the circular are being made and a new circular will be sent out.

It was a case of pushing the buck from both sides of the administration, and no decision was made as to who was the culprit.

We cannot even get this straight, yet we talk about making the grade for the World Cup. As to Gobinathan, well I only have this to say, two can play the game, and remember your roots.

NO NEWS ON ASIA CUP

Malaysia is set to play hosts to the Men's and Women's Asia Cup Hockey Competitions in the next two months.

While the Men's Asia Cup is in Ipoh, the Women's Asia Cup will be held in the National Hockey Stadium Bukit Jalil in September.

Both the tournaments offer a place to the Men's and Women's World Cup in The Hague next year and thus are vital for Asian Hockey.

While the MHC has left it to the Perak HA and Selangor HA to organize the events, it is in violation of its own constitution as both these states have yet to merge their men's and women's associations at state level, something obviously the International Hockey Federation should view with concern.

But that is not all for there is lack of information on these two tournaments and members of the media fraternity have been barraging this blogger with emails seeking information, right from the fixtures to other details like hotel and events.

This goes to show total apathy on the part of the Organisors and to top it all the Asian Hockey Federation website is totally defunct as one cannot access it at all.

But what shames all Malaysians is the fact hat two Singaporeans have been appointed as Tournament Directors for the Asia Cup and Sultan Johor Cup and Malaysians are continued to be snubbed despite holding on to power at the AHF level and represented at the FIH Executive Oard.

ARROGANCE, INCOMPETENT OR JUST PLAIN STUPID,

That is what will cross the minds of people with integrity and knowledge on hockey when they read the calling of entries for the forthcoming Tun Razak Cup, a tournament that is the longest running in Malaysian hockey.

For the circular is littered with mistakes, schoolboy errors, so much so it is learnt that the MHC Competitions Committee has now called for a meeting to rectify the errors in the circular, which lacks sensitivity and above all goes out o show the lack of knowledge amongst those who run the administration of MHC as well as those who run the Competition Department.

Right from the start the mistakes are apparent, for the REAL dates of the event to be staged in Kuantan is from the 5th to 15th September and not as stated in the circular which says 5-19th September.

Anyone with a same mind and a little bit of hockey knowledge would have realized that it cannot end on September 19 for the simple fact that the Sultan f Johor Cup commences on that date.

Next is on the registration of players where there is a form that allows states to register 25 players. Even the MHL which runs close to 3 months allows only 22 players to be registered and if the Competition Committee allowed this, then they obviously do not know what they are doing and should resign gracefully.

And moving on to the accommodation and internal transport, it states that it will be for 22 persons, which rightfully means 18 players and 4 officials. So if 25 players are to be registered, then there should be provisions for 29 persons, unless those who prepared and signed the circular obviously failed their Ilmu Hisab at school.

But the icing on the cake is the eligibility of players. Here it looks like it is butchered and pays scant respect to a decision made by the MHC Council.

Simplify the rules as was decided but who is the smart Alec who has changed the regulation. Since those who prepared the circular, signed it and the MHC Competition Committee are blinded due to poor knowledge of the sport, let us put it out in plain simple English-

1) that players who work, stay and/or play in the domestic league of the affiliate MUST represent that state.

2) that Kuala Lumpur must name its 25 players for the Razak Cup 30 days before the tournament. All other players not named will be released to their respective HOME states, this is decided by their identity card number.

3) players released by Kuala Lumpur who do not go back to home states will only be released to third party states upon receiving a no objection letter from home states.

4) players who refuse to turn out for home states will not be released to play for third party states.

5) the Project 2013 releases a list of 20 players not eligible to play in the Razak Cup since they are playing in the Sultan Johor Cup.

Simple yet some inefficient personalities who sit in positions cannot think straight as they have vested interests .;

REVINGTON SAYS

This is what Paul Revington had to say after his meeting with Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah after agreeing to serve out his contract.

Please be reminded that this statement is exclusive to this blog. However members of the media can lift the statement provided they contact the blogger.

" I got great clarity over the past 4-5 days. Several things "fell into place" by talking calmly with various people. I came to Malaysia to work WITH the likes of George, Arul, Dharma, Lim, Gobi, Azlan Bakar, Mirnawan, Nada etc - and the period pre CCI proved to be the most outstanding "coaching environment"

I have ever experienced having worked so well WITH all these individuals. Throughout the past 5-6 months there have been immense relationship challenges amongst this group - some innocent bystanders inside this group - and we have all been "wounded" in some way or another.

As a foreign coach I have relied (and will continue to) on the support of people in the Malaysian Hockey community who share the same goal (i.e. to make quick improvements to Malaysian Hockey on a daily basis) and therefore must work together toward this common goal.

It is important for people to know that I cannot do this alone and I do not know everything there is to know in hockey. What I do know is that I have an ability as a coach that can build Team work, build confidence in people and the bottom line to produce quality performances and results.

I need people to continue to support this path, add value where necessary and be Team players again. I feel I have this back in place - which we had pre Champions Challenge I."

REVS STAYS

Following a high noon showdown with the MHC President, national coach Paul Revington has agreed to stay on until his contract is over.

Below is a statement released by MHC just now. Pardon their inefficiency in the English Language though.

"The Malaysian Hockey Confederation are pleased to inform that National Hockey Coach Mr. Paul Revington will continue as National Coach for his complete contract term.

The MHC is delighted with his decision and look forward to Mr. Paul Revington bringing Malaysian Hockey to greatest heights."

DOUBLE STANDARDS BY MHC

It is sad when double standards are being practiced by the Malaysian Hockey Confederation with regards to hosting the Men's and Women's Asia Cup.

While Perak is given a green light to go ahead and host, Selangor have been told that they must resolve their merger before doing so.

Both the states have yet to merge their men and women's bodies and Perak has been given special privileges. The question is why such preferential treatment for Perak.

It is learnt that the Sports Commissioners Office is set to launch and investigation into this matter. More disclosure on this later today...

REVS NEEDS MORE TIME, BUT LIKELY TO LEAVE

Having led Malaysia to a creditable fifth placing in the World Hockey League, national coach Paul Revington has yet to make up his mind if he is to continue coaching the national team.

Although early indications were positive that the 39 year old South African was going to stay and coach the team in the Asia Cup next month, it is learnt that recent developments have forced a rethink by Revs.

And he is only expected to make a final decision next week, and it looks more then likely Revs will be parting ways with the Malaysian Hockey Confederation.

Malaysia has a fantastic reputation of driving out good coaches with astute politics both with the hockey fraternity and a government agency.

The likes of Terry Walsh, Volker Knapp and Paul Lissek have all undergone this superb phenomena that can only be matched by the likes of India and Pakistan.

It is learnt that some officials are keen to see Revs go and from their recent remarks in some papers, they have made snide remarks belittling the efforts of Revs.

What these so called hockey "minded" personalities fail to realize is Revs coached the team to finish above two teams ranked higher then Malaysia, I.e Pakistan who are fifth and South Africa who are 12th in the FIH Rankings.

Another issue is the fact that Malaysia lacks quality international matches, and as an indication, in 1998 Malaysia played 52 international matches within a space of 8 months prior to the Commonwealth Games.

And for those who may not know this, the original Harimau Muda, formed in 2005 played a total of 65 matches in one year under the tutelage of Dato K. Rajagobal, and after that played in the Premier League of MSL.

And look at MHC, have they managed to arrange any attachment programs and managed to "sell" our players to play in overseas leagues? Tengku Abdullah the MHC President has time and again stressed on this, but has anyone got off their butts to make it happen?

Frankly Revs should just pack up his bags and leave. The Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin promised Revs that he will personally look into his grouses but it has been lip service so far. As for the NSC DG, least said is best for since March an issue was raised but he had to protect his favorites.

But the straw that broke the camels back is that some officials have already been scouting overseas for a replacement for Revs. It is a small world, and Ho matter how astute you are in hockey politics, we have been confirmed as runners up in the best comedy act, second only to India who are the masters.
