KOREA TRASH IRAN

Korea defeated Iran 5-1 and will have to await the match between Malaysia and Japan to determine who joins then from Group A  for the semi finals of the 7th Junior Asia Cup played in Malacca, Malaysia.

The win gave them 6 points, as a result of two wins, against Japan (4-1) and Iran (5-1). They however lost to Malaysia 3-6 thus have a plus four goal difference.

Should Malaysia defeat Japan, then the hosts will top the group with Korea taking the second spot. A five goal margin of victory for Japan tomorrow night will give them a place in the semis at the expense of Malaysia,

Korea opened scoring in the 6th minute via a penalty corner converted by Yang Jihun.

They went 2-0 up through Kim Jung Hoo in the 12th minute. Lee Jungjun made it 3-0 by scoring in the 25th minute, also off a penalty corner.

Skipper Jihun was on target again from the penalty corner in the 28th minute to give Korea a 4-0 lead going into halftime.

You Seungju struck from a penalty corner in the 44th minute to put Korea 5-0 ahead.

However Iran kept plodding and got onto the scoresheet thanks to the tireless Navid Taheirirad in the 50th minute.
