The National Indoor Championships has commenced at two venues in Ipoh this morning - the Indera Mulia Stadium and the MHC-AHF Academy.
A total of 14 teams are participating in the Mens competition with 8 teams battling it out for the Womens tournament.
HRH Sultan Azlan Shah has graciously consented to donate two challenge trophies, named after Raja Dato Seri Ashman Shah, his youngest Prince who passed away on Marh 30.
It is indeed a fitting tribute as Raja Ashman was keen in the promotion and development of the sport having been a key figure in the formation and completion of the MHC-AHF Academy where the Womens tournament is being played.
The facilities at the Academy, which is currently running two courses back to back for hockey officials from Asia - the Training of Technical Officials and Technical Officials Course, is fantastic. For the record a total of 60 odd participatnts from 16 countries are in Ipoh to participate in the courses.
More on the results of the Indoor Tournament later this evening.
