KIWIS PLAN AHEAD
New Zealand are looking ahead towards the Junior World Cup in 2013
and towards that they have opted to field players that will be eligible
to play in the World Cup proper in the 2nd edition of the Sultan of
Johor Cup.
And their participation is a two prong strategy as not only are they planning ahead but the team is also groomed for the Junior World Cup qualifiers for the Oceania zone that will be held next February.

BACK TO HIS ROOTS
Jayshaan Randhawa can count on a lot of local support as he dons the
Australian jersey in the Sultan of Johor Cup that commences at the Taman
Daya Stadium in Johor Baru.
For he has his roots in Malaysia as his father was born in Muar.
Though this website has yet to find out more about the player, his uncle
confirmed that his father lived iiin Muar before moving to Australia
years ago.
AN IMPROVEMENT IS WHAT INDIA TARGETS
The
Indian junior hockey team's preparations for next year's World Cup will
begin with the upcoming second Sultan Johor Cup, according to coach
Baljit Singh Saini. India will seek to break a 12-year-old drought in
the world event it is scheduled to host.
But
before doing that, India is looking towards improving on their fourth
place finish they achieved at the Sultan of Johor Cup last year. And
Baljit has set a
top three target, a rather conservative one.
IZZAT DARES TO DREAM
It has been a mixed year for Nor izzat
Sumantri. For he lost his father just three days before the Junior Asia
Cup in Malacca in May. But a sterling performace despite his grief
helped Malaysia emerge champions in the history of the Junior Asia Cup.
