The search for the candidate to assume the position of Secretary General of the Malaysian Hockey Confederation has been narrowed done to just one candidate - Haji Johary Aziz, who unknown to many was offered the position after the 2010 BGM of the Malaysian Hockey Federation but declined.
And the two power brokers of MHC, in the likes of S.Shamala and Dato Azmi Ahmad are said to have held several discussions with Johary who was once the Manager of the Tenaga Nasional Berhad team in the MHL.
Coming from sound administrative background having served TNB for years, Johary is also a vice president of the KLHA and President of KLHC.
He was also the team manager for the national juniors in 2009 and is expected to be formally appointed at the MHC Council meeting on Tuesday.
Interestingly the former MHF Secretary Hashim Mohd Yusof is likely to be appointed as the General Manager.
What makes things most ironic is the fact that Shamala should have taken up the challenge as General Secretary given the fact she recently won an OCM award for leadership.
But while the affiliates ponder on the process of appointing a General Secretary, akin to a clandestine approach, their presence at meetings is now deemed a mere formality to endorse decisions of kingmakers.
