EARLY START

The MILO-NSC Junior Hockey League will commence on January 10 next year. Letters calling for entries are expected to be dispatched on Monday and some 20 over teams are expected to participate in the U19 competition that was initiated in 1995.

The decision to keep the MJHL separate from the MHL was made yesterday at the Competitions Committee Meeting and MHC President Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah has given his nod to that decision as well as the 2013 calendar.

With that decision, the MHL will now commence after the 22nd edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup that is scheduled for March 8-17. Only five teams have confirmed their participation in the SAS thus far - Defending champions New Zealand, Australia, Pakistan, India and Malaysia. Confirmation is being awaited from Spain, South Africa and South Korea, in that order.
